With the Jetstar Asia flight from Phuket I arrived in Singapore on a little bit cloudy Saturday afternoon. For my stay – it was my birthday weekend – I booked a special hotel – the Marina Bay Sands. It was my second stay there, my first one was in November 2011, some years ago, it was time to refresh my good memories to my last stay.
I booked the “Deluxe Room with City View” which is located in the higher floors of the hotel. My room was located in the 46 floor – the Skypark & the Infinity Pool are only 11 floors higher at the 57’s floor. When i come into my room first I thought I got a complimentary upgrade because it was much bigger as I thought. I had a complete living room area in my room, with a big couch, a armchair and a coffee table right next to the floor-to-ceiling windows with the incredible view of Singapore’s beautiful skyline.
The bathroom is really nice and big too, with a very stylish bathtub. The shower allone is as big as my whole bathroom at home 😉 The seperated toilet is perfect when you travel as a couple.
But in all perfection of this hotel I have some critic too. The hotel night prices are very high and it’s a luxury hotel, but on some points you feel like they want to skim you. You will have complimentary WiFi but only, but speed limited, when you want higher speed you need to pay. The speed is really fast enough but it don’t feel good that they want money for faster internet in 2016. The other thing is the automatic billed minibar. You can’t take some drinks out and put your on drinks into the fridge because it minibar automatically detects what you put out and write it to your bill. I didn’t recognized first at had allready a 20S$ bill but I dind’t drink anything. The next days I needed to drink my 7-Eleven paid beer warm in case of this… but at the check-out I reconciled with the Marina Bay Sands – they ask me if I really took the drinks and a I said no, I only need to sign that I didn’t took anything and I didn’t need to pay. Thumbs up for this!
I don’t need to tell you much about the world famous Infinity Pool at the top of the hotel, everybody knows it and it’s really that stunning as everybody things about it. Unbelivable good to swim up there, that are memories you will never forget.
I couldn’t say anything about the hotels restaurants or the breakfast because I didn’t booked breakfast, but I was at Din Tai Fung at the Shoppes – the Michelin Star awareded Taiwanese XiaoLongBao-Restaurant. I visited the original one in Taipei’s 101 and the branch in Bangkok before too and this one has the same quality. I love the food and had dinner on two of my three nights in the Marina Bay Sands.
At Din Tai Fung you order directly on the menu (see the pictures), you can do this while you are waiting for entering – at my visit around 8pm on a sunday evening I had a waiting time of 15-20min.
